Known For: Claremont is a cozy, scenic town that is nestled up against the San Gabriel Mountains. Claremont is perhaps best known for the Claremont Colleges, a group of eight diverse centers of higher learning that bring motivated, hard working young people to the area every year. Downtown Claremont is a very popular destination for families both young and old, boasting a classic small downtown feel, as well as housing newer, vibrant restaurants and activities. Claremont also offers a large number of outdoor activities such as hiking trails (Thompson Creek Trail is a popular one) and bike paths.
Area: Claremont is in a prime location to reach both jobs and schools near or far. The city is only ten to twelve miles away from the Ontario International Airport, and is home to a Metrolink station (The Metrolink is a train that runs back and forth between Los Angeles and San Bernardino).
Claremont has a highly regarded public school district (Claremont Unified School District) that houses six elementary schools (Chaparral, Condit, Mountain View, Sumner Danbury, Sycamore, Vista del Valle), one Junior High School (El Roble Intermediate School) and one High School (Claremont). All schools offer a plethora of extracurricular activities that range from sports to academics, as well as summer school programs.
Claremont is centrally located between Pasadena City College, Citrus Community College, and Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) to the West, and Chaffey College to the East. All schools are easily accessible by car, bus, or Metrolink allowing every member of the community to grow and prosper.
Claremont is also gifted with easy access to two major freeways: Interstate 10 and and Interstate 210, making Claremont a great suburb for citizens that commute to one of Southern California’s major cities. With multiple entrances and exits onto both Interstates, Claremont is well equipped to deal with the needs of commuters.
Recreation: Uptown or downtown, social or quiet, Claremont is well positioned to meet your needs. Claremont is a short drive East to the The Colonies shopping center, Montclair Place (formerly Montclair Plaza), Victoria Gardens, and Ontario Mills Outlet malls if your looking to do some shopping. With over 300 stores between them, shoppers will love the close proximity to these shopping hotbeds. Claremont is home to many hiking trails and outdoor adventures, and in close proximity to Mt. San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) where adventurers can discover all kinds of outdoor fun (and lots of wildlife too, so be safe!). Downtown Claremont aka "The Village" is a hot bed activity for the city’s residents as well as those in neighboring cities. The downtown area is very popular for its restaurants, bars, shopping and community activities. The area is also located right below the prestigious Claremont Colleges, so there are always events and activities happening. Claremont is also nearby to many movie theaters, parks and sports complexes, and many restaurants to indulge in. The city is also a short drive away from all of the amenities found in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland.
